The short answer
Define the activity and operating model, select the appropriate authority and legal form, then prepare the required shareholder and company information. Keep incorporation distinct from bank onboarding, immigration processing and tax registration.
Which choices come before registration?
Describe the goods or services, expected customer locations and where work will take place. Include regulated activities, imports, premises and staffing needs. Ask for the precise activity codes and any additional approvals. Dubai’s official business setup platform distinguishes mainland and free-zone routes. [1]
Check the proposed legal form, ownership requirements and document list for the selected activity. Corporate shareholders can require additional authorisations, translations or attestations. A friend’s document checklist is not necessarily suitable for a different legal form.
How can you avoid application rework?
Use consistent legal names and identity details. Confirm proposed business names and signatory authority before submitting. Keep a register of documents sent, requests received and remaining dependencies. Verify premises suitability before committing to a lease or workspace arrangement.
Request costs and milestones for the complete scope, including exclusions and renewals. Do not treat a generic package price as evidence of all fees. Likewise, authority registration does not guarantee a fixed visa or bank-opening timeline.
What belongs in the post-registration plan?
Keep formation documents securely and start accounting from the first transaction. Assign tax and renewal owners and assess the entity’s actual obligations. The old blanket tax-exemption claim has been removed: free-zone entities are within Corporate Tax, with conditional qualifying treatment. [2] Banking has its own beneficial-owner and customer checks.
