The short answer
Build payroll around the current wage-payment requirements for your establishment. Reconcile approved salary inputs, payment instructions and actual acceptance. Do not treat old internet percentages or a former grace period as permission to delay or reduce contractual wages.
Which rules should your company use?
The UAE Government’s current wages page refers to Ministerial Resolution 340 of 2026 and the requirement for MOHRE-registered establishments to pay wages on the due date through WPS. [1] Free-zone employers should verify their authority’s arrangements separately instead of assuming every zone uses an identical administrative process.
This replaces the older article’s 80% tests and 15-day grace-period guidance. Confirm the current rules, applicable exceptions and enforcement position directly for your establishment. The payroll calendar should aim to meet the full agreed entitlement on time rather than target a monitoring minimum.
How should a reliable salary cycle work?
Set deadlines for approved changes, leave inputs and documented deductions. Validate employee identifiers and bank/payment details securely. Obtain approval from the authorised person before submission and leave time to correct provider rejection rather than making the due date the first preparation day.
Reconcile the provider’s result against the approved payroll. Investigate unmatched employees, rejected records and incorrect amounts. Keep approval, submission and payment evidence together so HR and finance can answer the same employee query with the same records.
What should happen if a payment fails?
Escalate promptly to the payroll owner and payment provider, identify the cause and record the corrective action. Explain the problem and next action to the affected employee. Do not backdate an instruction or assume an authority will waive a penalty automatically. A consultant can help review the process; responsibility for accurate data and authorised payment must remain clear.
